FEATURING: The Andreas Kapsalis Trio, Sarah Potenza, Mike Mangione, Micki Croisant, Jen Porter, Mari Anne Jayme, Malcolm Palmer & very special guest host MARTY CASEY!
Acoustic Chicago will host an eco-friendly event to build further awareness of the growing sustainability movement in which Chicago has gained some national attention. We have sent out a call for creative minds to focus on one particular issue: protecting the environment!
With an environmentally conscious approach, we hope to share a natural vision of art in which various forms of creativity compliment each other. A true fusion of multiple types of art including music, dance, painting, photography, fashion, film, and video, the E-coustic Chicago Art and Environmental Celebration’s purpose is to support these art forms and the deserving artists behind them, while maintaining environmentally conscious themes throughout the evening.

Last night Ruehlen attended the grand opening of the Gallery Building on the Block. The Gallery’s owner/curator Dustin Allen boasts of his gallery being an up and coming underground art and cultural scene located in Chicago’s west side. The gallery is located in a large urban warehouse, which is shared by several different artists utilizing its space, at the corner of Kedzie and Carroll. Ruehlen was able to watch the first exhibition come together piece by piece as Allen hung each work, whether it be on the wall, floor or ceiling. Allen laughing said “it was like art in itself” as he moved hastely around the room while hip hop blasted from the PA. Building on the Block appears to be both ambitious and forward while remaining true to its underground (almost secretive) persona. Keep your eyes open for more news and up and coming gatherings at Building on the Block.
